.......The story behind the little Horten
type HLG is very
simple. A group of dedicated modellers, who live near
Genoa, Italy had
taken an initiative to interest young kids in slope
soaring.
Relatives build cheap hand launched gliders (HLG), that
the children
launch downhill, with about 12 meters of altitude
difference.
.......Ferdi
designed
and built the tailless he is holding in the picture and
are in
the construction drawings. Most
of the
instructions are in Italian, but any modeller could easily
builld it
with scrap material.
.......One
HLG
launched by the builder glided downhill for 18 seconds,
which turned
out to be the best duration time of the day.
